20 ‘Right Things’ in 2020

December 26, 2020 by Kim

So… 2020. Oh my, what a year. Talk about the full human experience! How’d you do?

It’s been a year of challenges but I’m willing to bet you found some gifts too.

Before I work on my vision for this new year, I thought I’d take some time to celebrate the ‘right things’ of 2020 and list them as I go below….starting now.

Grab a piece of paper and a pen, start a blog or IG post, or list a few highlights in the comments below. Inner Circle members, I started a thread for us in the Circle to share our wins over there.

My 20 right-things in 2020. (AKA a list of 20 things I’m most proud of this year.)

    1. I found my faith again. (or It found me) It was March. I was walking Ben when God tapped me on the shoulder and invited me to get to know HIM again. ♡ Grateful beyond.
    2. After the initial shock of COVID, I stepped up and created content and classes that pulled people away from bingeing the news to practicing their creativity again.
    3. I got outta my lululemons and back into my jeans again. No small feat … cause seriously, lululemon pants are amazing. (more about this here.)
    4. I hosted 45+ LIVE zoom sessions with beautiful creatives around the world and 83 – 1:1 zoom calls too
    5. I turned my stinking-thinking around. For a good part of this past year, I’d forgotten how powerful keeping my thoughts in check can be. But, (as Xanthe likes to say) ‘she’s back’! I really am. So grateful for that.
    6. I started to print my work. Thanks to the Circle and all the beautiful members who jumped on the Tango-train too. If you don’t know about the magic of the Hp Tango, you gotta check it out. It’s life-changing.
    7. Didn’t give up through some very challenging things. I’m willing to bet you can say this too!
    8. I was able to support my mom through a cancer scare with a miracle outcome.
    9. Watched my boys become friends. Another miracle I wasn’t sure could ever come true.
    10. Watched in wonder as Bryce graduated with honors from University, received a scholarship to a prestigious US seminary school, moved to a small town as a summer pastor then stayed on as an associate pastor while doing seminary online (due to the pandemic). I’m continually in awe of the miracles God has performed in my boys lives.
    11. Partnered with Design Cuts. One of the best decisions EVER.
    12. Guest taught 2 Design Cuts LIVE sessions. So fun.
    13. Followed a whisper to launch the Inner Circle membership and discovered just how vital community is for us all (now more than ever).
    14. fell in love with Photoshop all over again. Mind-blown.
    15. Designed 75+ new textures and shared them with my community.
    16. set-up a brand new classroom site and community space for the Inner Circle (and my other classes coming soon) all by myself.
    17. walked 3 650 000+ steps.
    18. took a very long (and much needed) break from Instagram, and returned with a much healthier perspective.
    19. found my way back to my daily writing practice. why oh why did I stop that? : )
    20. rediscovered my artsy/crafty side in a whole new and next-level way.

I’ll be back to add this list as I go.

It’s truly ok to celebrate YOU. Join me and let’s celebrate our successes together?

Happy other-side of Christmas friends.
with love & gratitude.

xx

Kim

Hi Kim, I felt a wave of sadness hit when I saw the parenthetical part of your title, ‘Not just 20 things she’s proud of, but 20 things she’s MOST proud of?! I’m sure I don’t have 20 things I’m simply proud of in 2020…’ I opened the link anyway and I LOVE the ‘heart’ items and was so relieved to see you haven’t completed the list yet. I’m in a ‘stuck’ season of life but I think this is an important exercise for me to do, even if I can’t think of 20 things. Thanks for sharing!

This is such a wonderful idea! I’m so glad I joined your Inner Circle this year and renewed it for the year to come. Such a refreshing group (away from the madding crowd). You have stirred my creativity once again. You and your group is one of my 20.

Oh my, praise God. #1 made me cry. #9 ♥♥ #10!! And all the others…just so wonderful. I’m so blessed to have found you and your creativity so many years ago. It began with a photo of something hanging on a clothesline. I was awestruck and thought I want to make that kind of photo. I want THAT. I’ve learned to!! And mostly because of your excellent teaching and generosity!
    Happy New Year dear soul!!

not to be all about Ben but I’ve had so many pe not to be all about Ben but

I’ve had so many people asking for an update on Benny. I thought I better do a post. ♡
first thank you all.
.
so we went for his limp but it ended up a little more complicated than that.
.
He has a heart murmur that the vet is quite concerned about.
the first 15 minutes of the phone call (because you can’t go into the vet) was about his little heart.
then she continued to say he has a torn ACL and because of the heart they can not do surgery.
so 6 weeks of bedrest with the hopes he will form some scar tissue and be ok to walk again but with a limp.
they are doing an echocardiogram on Tuesday to decide what to do next for the heart. He’s not symptomatic so we would not have known if we didn’t go for his leg.
.
.
which leads me to this…
the food we’ve had Ben on up until last year - is grain free - and it has been linked to the cause of the murmur.
last summer the vet suggested we take him off it because of the study linking it, so we switched then.
I can’t believe the food we choose because of the ‘quality’ is the cause.
and I can’t believe it’s still on the shelves.
.
if you’re curious about the study you can find the details with a quick google search.I also linked it in my stories.
.
And please share this with your pet owning friends as well. 🙏🏻
.
.
thank you for all the love & support about our Benny. so many beautiful comments and DMS. Grateful.
.
He’s taking it all like a trooper…other than when we go out for the loo he wags his tail and wiggles about thinking finally she’s taking me for our walk.
straight to the heart.
.
the LOVE is deep my friends.
as I know many of you get.
