I’ll never forget the first time I captured pretty Christmas tree bokeh (completely by accident).
Today a quick (to the point) video on how to capture smooth Christmas light bokeh on purpose.
You will Need
- Fairy Lights (smaller twinkle lights work best.)
- a low f/stop lens. For this video, I used the Sigma ART 50mm f/1.4
Different focal lengths will impact the bokeh you capture. Experiment. - a subject (I used a chair, but this can be whatever your heart desires.)
- space between your subject and the lights

Let me just say, sweet friend, that I love these short and sweet tutorials!
I say the first version of bokeh you mentioned. Going to try this! Thanks, Kim!
I say bo-cah. The other way sounds like the term used for flowers.
Bokeh ,♡
Love the video!! (I vote for Bo-kah rhymes with Mocha)…Thank you for sharing all your inspiration!!
Always Bow kah, thank you so much Kim for these helpful little vids!
So beautiful, thank you Kim.
loved thank you. Bo-Ka
Agree…bo-kah rhymes with mocha. Thank you Kim!
Thank you so much for this. I tried and tried last night to get bokeh (mocha) with my tree and failed miserably. Now I know what I was doing wrong. Thanks again.
