October 27, 2014 by Kim

and an Artful Blogging Give Away Opportunity

yes..that’s my name on the cover..and some of my photos too….so exciting.

Welcome to Texture Tuesday….

Let’s continue the free & easy TT theme……shall we? Easy Peasy…..

Everyone welcome…..

Please Share the TT button on your blog…… xo

Kim Klassen dot com

So excited to share a photo of the winter issue of Artful Blogging….. Isn’t it gorgeous? … I would have taken more photos….but I ran out of light.  Gosh the days are getting short….

This is extra special to me…..cause I’m inside…. and on the cover…. Big gratitude to Stampington….. for this feature.

It’s an honor to be included in this beautiful publication… So many inspired bloggers…. and uplifting stories…..

::

I was thrilled when Artful Blogging asked me to submit my story…as part of their Golden Oldie series…. (not as in old and grey (well maybe just a little grey)…but as in…. a returning contributor)….
It’s been almost 5 years since my first feature in Artful Blogging… Such a gift to return and share my updated story……

Blogging changed my life…. It’s been an amazing journey…… I’m so grateful  to each of you that follows along… Thank you.

If you are new to my site…. perhaps you read the story in Artful Blogging…
Welcome…… You have entered an amazing community of creatives…..

A Story…Behind the Story

Just 2 Days before the editor of Artful Blogging emailed me, I was on the Stampington site looking around…. I grabbed my journal and wrote… Write for Stampington….. Submit an article for Artful Blogging….
2 days later…(and I’m completely serious) an email inviting me to share my story in the winter issue of Artful Blogging…..
How cool is that?

Amazing things happen when we set our intentions….and move in the direction of our dreams…. Even small steps can lead to beautiful blessings…..

Trust the Process…..

I think I shared here before…
I have CONCEIVE – BELIEVE – ACHIEVE on post-its around my house…..
I love sprinkling inspiration here and there…Gentle reminders….. to keep moving forward….

Think on it… conceive…..believe….. achieve…..
Good…isn’t it?

Give Away Opportunity

To celebrate my Artful Blogging feature…I’d like to send a copy of  the Winter Artful Blogging issues to one lucky commenter….
to enter simply say hello in the comments….. I will announce the winner on Friday.

Good luck!

Society 6 Shop – A Work in Progress

Yay! I opened a shop on Society 6…. I’ve been thinking on this for almost a year…. A good friend gave me the nudge I needed last week to finally take the leap.

For those who have written about ordering prints…. pop over and check it out…….. More to come soon….

Not Just Prints….

There’s lot of other products such as …..tote bags, clocks and iPhone/iPad cases and skins, framed prints, prints on canvas….I ordered a few items last night…Once they arrive I will post some pics and details….. I’m most excited to receive the new iPhone case….

Anyhow, pop over and check it out… I will be uploading lots of my art… over the next few weeks…. (slow and steady…..it all takes time)…..

Here’s a just few of the products available.

Today’s Recipe

Kim_Klassen_20141027_3594

Yep, I’m still photographing fallen leaves… I just can’t help myself…

Cropped, toned and tweaked in Lightroom. I used a new preset called chocolate….. Then into Photoshop…

I applied today’s texture Thursday at soft light 67% opacity….and that was that….. I love how it brought out the details in the table…..

I have been a bit away from my camera the last few months, as my father was ill and passed away in September. Slowly I am bringing the life back in. Spending more time behind my camera is on top of my list. Once again congratulations. I hope to be more around here again now. Hi Kim,

I was so excited to find someone using Textures in their work! I took a Photoshop Class at a community college a few years ago and happened to pick up an issue of Digital Studio. Love it! Love it! Love it! I was so inspired that I started using textures in my portraiture work that would enhance the story of the person I photographed. It took me a while to get the hang of it and still have a lot to learn. Like how did you get the DarkMood preset? So many questions. Anywho. Will have to sign up for your Lightroom class. Until then . . . I look forward to reading your article in Artful Blogging.

Congrats on your feature. That looks wonderful.

Also, I can’t wait to follow you on Society6. I have been on that site for a couple of years and I love it. It has a nice social aspect and it is also the only place I have sold items (not a lot mind you, but just the thought that someone wants to buy anything of mine brings a smile to my face!)

I just had to laugh over one of your comments above — “Yep, I’m still photographing fallen leaves… I just can’t help myself…”

Actually, neither can I! I think half of the fall pictures taken this fall were looking down and dead and dying leaves. My husband thinks I am just plain crazy. He will walk ahead and lose me when I stop to take a shot of ‘just another leaf”. No one can have enough left pictures and I am glad to hear that I am not the only “Leaf Lady”!

You are a logical Artful Blogger subject! I’m certain it’s beautiful. I’ve been noticing the changes in your photos, too….moving from the very light to the grayish, more “moody” look with your edits. It’s a beautiful transition, in my opinion, because it is proof that you are not standing still.

not to be all about Ben but I’ve had so many pe not to be all about Ben but

I’ve had so many people asking for an update on Benny. I thought I better do a post. ♡
first thank you all.
.
so we went for his limp but it ended up a little more complicated than that.
.
He has a heart murmur that the vet is quite concerned about.
the first 15 minutes of the phone call (because you can’t go into the vet) was about his little heart.
then she continued to say he has a torn ACL and because of the heart they can not do surgery.
so 6 weeks of bedrest with the hopes he will form some scar tissue and be ok to walk again but with a limp.
they are doing an echocardiogram on Tuesday to decide what to do next for the heart. He’s not symptomatic so we would not have known if we didn’t go for his leg.
.
.
which leads me to this…
the food we’ve had Ben on up until last year - is grain free - and it has been linked to the cause of the murmur.
last summer the vet suggested we take him off it because of the study linking it, so we switched then.
I can’t believe the food we choose because of the ‘quality’ is the cause.
and I can’t believe it’s still on the shelves.
.
if you’re curious about the study you can find the details with a quick google search.I also linked it in my stories.
.
And please share this with your pet owning friends as well. 🙏🏻
.
.
thank you for all the love & support about our Benny. so many beautiful comments and DMS. Grateful.
.
He’s taking it all like a trooper…other than when we go out for the loo he wags his tail and wiggles about thinking finally she’s taking me for our walk.
straight to the heart.
.
the LOVE is deep my friends.
as I know many of you get.

he’s been slowing down this past week and yesterday he started limping.
today it’s much worse.
