Today, all the things…wrapping up with a little reflection on ‘times like this’ at the bottom of the post…
So this morning…I woke to another Design Cuts bundle email. I cautiously clicked over to see.
What will it be? Do I need this one?
They are such a steal it’s hard to resist.
At the same time, I wanna be sure to use the goodies inside. (the very reason I made a class on using all your bundle things).
(please note the Design Cuts bundle link is my partner link. If you purchase it I will receive a small commission. thank you.)
As I scrolled I saw a few lovelies… (including a typewriter font with my name on it) and then I saw the film frames creator pack.
It’s like they popped into my brain and made it just for me. : ) I had to make this quick (over the top excited) video to show you what I mean.
Anyhow, After teaching the slow-mo animation class over on Design Cuts last week…I’ve been spinning with the next things to teach here and over in the Inner Circle. (by the way, for just a few more days the Inner Circle intro price is still open).
This bundle is definitely inspiring Lotsa creative zing. ♡
And film overlays aren’t JUST for films. They’re beautiful for photos. Amazing for social, like Pinterest and IG.
and if you haven’t noticed … the old film look is so HOT right now.
Which is why I made the Dust & Scratches II Brush set for you all.
TT’ers your download link will be on its way in just a few…and Inner Circle friends… I’ve made a quick video for you. (uploading as I type)
With lots more inspo to come.
Ok, my lovely… that’s a wrap for this week’s TT things.
If you’re interested in my ramblings on ‘times like this.’… read on. If not, scroll below, say hello and link-up your TT photos or film.
What day is it?
Have you noticed the time warp we seem to be in?
How the days, weeks and months seem to run into one? How pre-corona seems like yesterday and a lifetime ago all in one?
I’ll never forget that day in March. I was out walking Ben.
My son Brett called to tell me about the news of Corona in Canada.
It was so surreal, like a movie.
Here we are 4 + months later, and it’s still a thing…
It struck me yesterday… this thing isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.
But what amazes me is how resilient and adaptable we humans can be.
Little things and big have shifted so much.
Like just the other day, instead of seeing my doctor, we talked on the phone. (and this is perfectly normal now).
I heard on a recent podcast that due to this next spike in Corona, Apple is closing some of their retail stores, and the employees will somehow be working from home.
How fascinating is that?
I’m thinking that girl at the apple store I love to chat never imagined sitting at home with a headset helping customers shop online?
Maybe the classes they do in the store will jump online as well. (perhaps they already have).
I’m curious about what as changed most for you.
We live a quiet life. Not a lot has changed.
A lot less (apparently unnecessary) trips to town to pick up this and that, grocery pick-up instead of grocery shopping, fewer family gatherings
and that’s pretty much it.
For the first few weeks, I remember John and I laying on the ‘horizontal office’…talking and reading and praying. Feeling so uncertain about what was ahead.
Everything seemed to s l o w down.
I started walking and talking on Whatsapp with my friend Jen from Germany. How crazy is it that we can talk for FREE to anyone, anywhere? In fact, I’ve spoken many hours to many friends around the world during this time.
Remember the days of long-distance phone plans?
A few weeks into the pandemic, John started baking bread. I’m not sure why? We don’t eat bread. (especially white, fresh out of the oven bread). But apparently, during Corona we do.
And another crazy thing. I started watching the news. At first, to an unhealthy degree. (which is probably why I was eating John’s bread.)
Did you know you can watch the news on youtube? I had no idea until all this.
I gained 6 lbs eating that bread (oh my gosh, so good) and other things my mom was sending over as she kept busy baking all her delicious treats.
Eventually, the carbs and extra pounds got old. So I’ve switched to a keto plan (thanks to many youtube videos) I found my way too over this past few months. I love it. I’ve lost the 6 corona-pounds but still have 6 pre-corona lbs I’m happy to let go of soon.
Up until a few weeks ago, John did most of the cooking. But he cooked the same thing, over and over again. Chicken or ground turkey and broccoli was a daily thing. : )
And so, I’ve taken over the kitchen. Each day is something new. I google the ingredients I have and up pops a recipe to try out. Some have been amazing, others so, so. I’ve enjoyed getting back into the kitchen too. Who knew? (John doesn’t mind at all.)
Oh, and to get my ‘carb’ fix, I’ve been making microwave mug cakes. I could do a whole post on this. Have you ever googled microwave mug cakes? There’s a ton of keto recipes, and oh my word, they’re delicious.
A few weeks back, we had so much rain that many homes around our town were evacuated, and it seemed like it may never end.
Conversations of …’ what’s next? It’s one thing after another, isn’t it?’
Then came the mosquitoes. I don’t remember them ever being so bad.
And so, our SHORT summer isn’t quite what were dreaming of.
I’ve had to give into bug spray which, if you know me, I’m not a fan. I will say the Watkins lotion isn’t quite so bad.
And so, for us, it’s tiny little changes in our days.
We are blessed. And so grateful for that.
I know for many, this time has been difficult, and for some devastating.
And I know there are no words that I can say to make things ok.
Life can be so hard.
But there is light. Sometimes it’s a tiny crack. Look for it, and when you can… walk a little closer toward.
Sending love and light & endless gratitude.
I love hearing from you in the comments below. ♡
