Summer TV Confession & Other News
Day 10 of 31 Days of Blogging / TV confessions, My Amazon Shop and Today’s photo settings & edit
It was Summer 2013.
John was diagnosed with Leukaemia and admitted into the Winnipeg Health Science Center. (3 hours from our home.)
The treatment was brutal and most days were spent with John in and out of sleep and me, sitting next to his bed with my iPad and a whole lot of time on my hands.
(that whole first week the hospital let me stay with him in his room, which looking back. Wow! That was so kind.)
Anyhow, somehow or other I landed on the show Pretty Little Liars.
Horror.
But, a much needed (mindless) distraction at the time.
Fast forward to summer 2014. We were finally back home.
And a new season of Pretty Little Liars popped up on my screen.
I hit play.
And sat there dumbfounded.
What? I actually choose to watch this?
I’d like to say that was the end of my Pretty Little Liars blip.
But a few years later, when John was back in the Winnipeg hospital I found myself seeking distraction once again.
And there it was. Pretty Little Liars.
I hit play.
Strangely, it pulled me back in.
Thankfully for the most part, my taste in TV has improved.
Recent watches.
Endeavour, Call the Midwife
Anatomy of a Scandal (oh man that was intense).
This is Us (did you watch it through to the finale?)
Oh and Modern Love on Prime! Season one and two.
So good.
All the Chicagos shows.
Fire, Med, PD
I dip in and out of them.
:)
John will ask
”when are you going to watch Chicago ………. fill in the blank.
Chicago Teachers, Chicago Construction…
He really does think he’s funny.
Oh and we rented the new Downton Abbey movie.
It was good, but I didn’t LOVE it.
I haven’t been to the movies in YEARS. (at least 3).
John and Brett just recently went to Top Gun and LOVED IT.
Have you seen it?
Moving on to my latest summer show confession.
A few weeks ago when I found myself looking for a little break from my buzzing brain.
Being a creative is amazing but somedays you just need to quiet all the thinking-things with a little mindless TV.
As I was scrolling Prime, there it was. The O.C.
Remember it?
Sandy, Kirsten. Seth, Ryan, Marissa, Summer…
I hit play on episode one, then two, three. then four.
It takes me back to a whole other lifetime and reminds me of my Aunt.
She loved the O.C. (along with Everwood, 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill.)
I’d call her on my walks and we'd discuss all the week’s drama. Scene by scene.
: )
That’s almost 20 years or so ago now.
I miss her.
I’m sure I’ll look back and ask myself why/how did you spend the summer of 2022 watching The O.C.
or maybe not.
Hmmm, I wonder what summer, 2023 will bring?
Whatcha watching these day?
I’d love to know.
In other news.
I finally set up an Amazon Shop with the things I love & use. From photography, to tech, to paper and desk things. (It’s a work in progress. I’ll be adding more a little each day.)
Note: if you place an order through the shop links I will receive a small commission.
Today’s Photos
Taken at the front of the studio. (white walls, white floor part.)
For a moody look I exposed for the bright highlights… Letting everything else fall into shadow.
Nikon z7II
35mm z lens
ISO 100, f/4, 1/640
Edited in Lightroom with Taffeta from the Signature set and a tiny touch of cloud day profile from the Shades of White collection.
slight adjustments to the shadows and highlights in the basic panel.
And finally I added a subject mask for a slight light-lift on the peonies.
Over to You. Tell me true… whatcha watching these days?
with love.
