Let me show (not tell) you how to use ChatGPT as your creative thinking partner.
Grab a cuppa- this is a LONG one (but so worth the read!)

Ever catch yourself in those quiet moments, knowing there's something creative stirring but not quite sure how to bring it to life? Let me show you something that might surprise you...

From Simple Prompt to Creative Magic

Here's what happened when I asked ChatGPT to be my creative coach:

You are an inspiring creative coach. Design a creative photography self-challenge for me to complete over the next 7 days—something small, playful, and doable in my home in under 20 minutes each day. For context I love the book a Year of Mornings.

The Ordinary Magic Challenge

Day 1: "First Light, First Sight"
Capture the very first thing that catches your eye when you enter your favorite room in the morning. Don't overthink it – it could be the way sunlight hits your coffee mug or a plant's shadow on the wall.

Day 2: "The Color Hunt"
Pick your current mood color. Throughout the day, photograph three tiny moments where you spot that exact shade in unexpected places – maybe it's in the condensation on your shower door or the spine of a book.

Day 3: "Time Stands Still"
Document the same spot in your home at three different times during the day (morning, afternoon, evening). Notice how light changes everything.

Day 4: "The Overlooked"
Photograph five typically invisible things – the pattern inside your tea strainer, the texture of your doormat, the reflection in your spoon. Get close, get curious.

Day 5: "Morning Rituals"
Instead of capturing the final moment (like your prepared breakfast), document the in-between stages – the water droplets falling into your coffee filter, the bread just beginning to toast.

Day 6: "Window Stories"
Use any window in your home as a frame. Capture what you see through it, what's reflected in it, or how light plays through it at different moments.

Day 7: "Sacred Spaces"
Document your favorite quiet corner of the home, but focus on the small details that make it special – the way your favorite blanket folds, the collection of objects on your bedside table.

Guidelines to keep it playful:
Use only your phone camera
No filters needed
Spend max 20 minutes
Don't overthink – if something catches your eye, that's your shot
Keep the images small and intimate in scale

Notice. It asked ‘would you like me to expand on these daily prompts?’ Chats always eager to continue the conversation whenever you’re ready.

But wait... it gets even better.

The Mood Board Magic

You know I love creating mood boards in Cosmos and Milanote.
Anyhow, one of my favorite ways to use Chat is turning these visual collections into actual creative projects.

Next Level ChatGPTing in Action

I uploaded one of my mood boards to chat and asked it to design a 7-day creative challenge based on the feeling of my mood board.

Here it is in action.

My Exact Prompt

7-Day Photography & Writing Renewal Project

Day 1: Morning Light & Mindful Mornings
Photography Focus: Capture the early light and the quiet moments of your morning routine. Look for soft light reflections, shadows, or items like your coffee cup, books, or journals.
Writing Prompt: Write about your ideal morning—what rituals bring you peace, and how these small moments shape your day.

Day 2: Everyday Objects with Character
Photography Focus: Choose one object from your space that holds personal significance (e.g., vintage scissors, a favorite mug). Highlight its texture, shape, and uniqueness.
Writing Prompt: Write a short story or reflection about the history or meaning this object holds for you.

Day 3: Layers and Textures of Life
Photography Focus: Photograph layers and textures—whether it’s fabrics, paper, plants, or wooden surfaces. Look for subtle contrasts and depth.
Writing Prompt: Describe a time when life felt layered, with both joy and challenges interwoven. How did you move through that period?

Day 4: Movement in Stillness
Photography Focus: Integrate subtle movement in your shots, like steam from a cup, hands in slow motion, or fabric gently swaying.
Writing Prompt: Explore the concept of movement within stillness in your life. Where do you find peace and flow amidst the busy moments?

Day 5: Cozy Corners and Quiet Spaces
Photography Focus: Capture a quiet space that brings you comfort—maybe a reading nook, a desk corner, or a spot by the window.
Writing Prompt: Write about the role of space in your creativity. How do physical spaces shape or inspire your inner world?

Day 6: Light as a Subject
Photography Focus: Let light take center stage today. Chase how it interacts with objects, windows, and surfaces at different times of day.
Writing Prompt: Reflect on a memory where light played a crucial role—sunsets, candle-lit conversations, or the golden hour in your travels.

Day 7: A Self-Portrait without Faces
Photography Focus: Create a self-portrait without showing your face. Use objects, spaces, or hands to represent who you are.
Writing Prompt: Write about who you are at this moment in your creative journey. What parts of yourself are evolving? Which parts feel rooted and steady?

Wrap-Up Reflection
At the end of the week, review your photos and journal entries. What themes emerged? How did the combination of photography and writing help you connect to your passions? Use this reflection as a guide to shape your next creative steps.

This project blends minimalism, mindfulness, and storytelling, mirroring elements in the uploaded visuals and your aesthetic preferences.
