Reading Glasses of my Dreams
Day 16 of 31 Days of Blogging / And this ring and bracelet. (gah).
After finding it difficult to read my camera menu (even with my glasses) I booked an eye appointment. I haven’t been since pre-covid.
The optometrist said you still have excellent distance vision (is that near or far sighted? I never remember.) but…
Long story short she suggested a stronger reader was all I’d need.
And so began my hunt for the dream readers. Readers I would LOVE. Readers, that feel like me.
And thanks to my always in the know friend Shelagh. My dream has come true.
I was telling her about my hunt for the dream readers when she said…
I bought mine in France.”
And I was like…
I love your readers but France!’
And she was like…
You can order them online’. It’s a company called Izipizi.
A quick google.
And right there in front of my eyes… the readers I’ve only seen in my dreams.
The light tortoise. Oh my word.
After an unfortunate lost shipping situation, Izipizi reshipped my order (from France) and they arrived 4 days later.
If you haven’t checked out the link, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the price.
And if you spend $90 (Canadian) the shipping is free.
I ordered 2 pair. one for the studio and one for home.
A few things to note.
one.
I do a LOT of zooms.
My previous glasses have an antiglare coating that prevents my computer screen from reflecting back in my lenses.
Unfortunately this is not an option with the Izipizi reader.
I did call the optometrist and they can pop a new pair of lenses with antiglare into my Izipizi frame, but they can’t add the coating to the existing lenses.
Another option would be an antiglare something or other on my iMac, but I don’t think I want to do that.
two.
I ordered the screen readers with a subtle amber coating which is fab if you’re staring at a screen a LOT. Who isn’t?
I wish I ordered one of each.
Partly because the amber coating is more noticeable than I envisioned.
But also because it significantly shifts the colors on my screen. NOT good for photo and film editing at all.
(which duh…I should have known this).
And so, that’s my story. My reading glass dreams have come true.
I’ll be sure to report back if I get the lenses swapped out with anti-glare too.
One, No Two More Beautiful Things
How ‘bout my new ring and bracelet?
I’m testing both for my friends at Studio 50.
They’re made from stainless and concrete and I am OBSESSED.
The texture, the subtle design and its like wearing nothing at all. So light and just right.
Check out their lovely wares. Everything Kim & Steve make is magic.
Tell me…
What dreamy things have you discovered of late.
I’d love to know.
