The Upcycled Matchbox

for the use what we have 5-Day Challenge in the Creator’s Club

Creativity and hoarding seem to go hand and hand.
Yes?

Oh my word, the things I’ve gathered over the years.

How ‘bout you?
I’d love to hear about a few things you just had to have but have yet to use.

This month in the Creator’s Club our 5-day challenge is to Use What We Have.

Gear, props, a new or rarely used lens, a forgotten font, digital templates, fabric, wool, ephemera, an APP, did I mention props?
The possibilities are endless really!

Maybe I should have called this the shop your stash challenge.

For my first project, I pulled out the dollar store matchboxes that are too ugly to leave sitting out, along with this kraft tape and label paper I had to have. Oh and my alphabet stamps too. (love this set).

My goal:
elevate the matchboxes so I could use them in my photos and videos.

Like this. ♡

I had a few different-sized matchboxes. (all with ugly packaging).

I used my alphabet stamps and Kraft tape to decorate the smaller boxes.

Much better right?

For the larger boxes, I designed the cover in Photoshop, printed it on Kraft label paper and ta-da.

The Upcycled Matchbox

Creator’s Club members check out the classroom for a detailed tutorial on the cover I designed in Photoshop. (coming Monday).

Today’s ‘Use What I Have’ Summary

  • matchboxes ✔️

  • kraft tape ✔️

  • kraft label paper ✔️

  • notepad I made a while back ✔️

  • flora in my lovely new-ish floral frog ✔️

And rather than worry about all the things I have yet to use I’ll take a moment to celebrate this win.
Woo hoo.

What might you pull from your stash and use creatively this week?
Do tell!

With love & gratitude. Be well.
