truth note 03 | what’s the point?

thoughts on being an outlier and a magical Lightroom masking tutorial too.
(cause you know?)

outlier

/ˈoutˌlīər/
noun

a person or thing situated away or detached from the main body or system.
a person or thing differing from all other members of a particular group or set

This is me.

You?

In our tiny town and with my family I often feel like the weird one in the group.

In fact, my mom’s commented several times. (said with love. I promise.)

not sure who you take after?’

and then there was the time.
where did you even come from?’

This often comes after discussing my introverted ways. : )

Yesterday I asked my parents to pick up some wooden matches at the dollar store on their trip into town.
I popped in to pick them up this morning and they bought the wrong size. No biggy but I started to explain why I needed a specific-sized box of matches (to upcycle the packaging) and stopped partway through the story.
Cause you know. Outlier and all.

Most (not all) of my real-life people would say to…

tag-stamping and futzing with a dead onion flower.
What’s the point?

wrapping a matchbox with kraft paper.
What’s the point?

Dead stuff in bottles.
Seriously what’s the point?

Lace in the window for prettier shadows on the wall.
What’s the point?'

As my friend Michelle commented about this on Instagram.
The point is absolutely everything.”

The point is beauty, goodness, grace, light, lovely….in the little things.

Because it’s a privilege and a blessing and just like that it can be taken away.

Because I can. Because I can’t NOT.

And if you’re here reading this…I’m thinking just maybe you can relate.

What’s the point for you? Do share below.

My name is Kim and I am an outlier.
and as much as there are many things I’d like to change about this me that is Kim being an outlier is NOT one.

You?

OH and p.s.
here on my blog and Instagram (as much as it’s not the same as it once was) daily futzing feels perfectly right.
