Create what you thought was unimaginable —
challenge, explore, question, care, seek, unearth,
discover, collaborate, push, digest, manifest and do.
There is no substitute for passion and hard work.’
—Ali Heath
I need to work slowly and deliberately now.
Volume is not important, but every image must be focused, concentrated. Its reason for existence must be clear, and its execution must be equally clear. This kind of clarity takes patience. Images, ideas, feelings are turned over, slowly, mediately. You can’t be sure at the beginning which ones will take root and flower. They won’t do this unless they are tended (ie. attention must be paid, work must be done). But with too much attention, the flowers might be pulled up with the weeds.
It’s another one of those zen-like paradoxes —you have to work on things, and you have to leave things alone.’
