Episode Nineteen. Hear these Words
Full Quote
Sometimes in my darker moments I look at all l've done, and all I will do, and ask, What does it add up to?" Such a small and inadequate being I am-the things that I make so few-_the thoughts that l've written down so sparse. Other people have done so much more.
Tonight the answer came to me: a life. It adds up to a life. Nothing more, nothing less. I can't quantify the value of my existence according to the number of pictures made or essays written. What I can do is work hard and live. Live it out.
And listen. My soul knows where it wants to go, but often I'm unwilling to trust the inner voice, to relax and be led. I don't control my growth. I nurture it and often just get out of the way and let it happen.
I can't take my pictures or my words with me. But I may take with me what I
become.
