Create a 2025 Year-on-the-Wall Calendar with Lightroom Classic and Canva

There’s nothing sweeter than seeing our photos in PRINT!
Today’s tutorial will walk you through creating a year-on-the-wall calendar using Lightroom Classic Print module and Canva.

It's a simple and inexpensive project that results in a lovely finished product, especially when framed.

Let’s dive in.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

How to Install Lr Classic Print Templates

Why Use Lightroom Classic and Canva?

Lightroom Classic: The print module in Lightroom Classic offers a convenient way to quickly arrange your photos into a layout. All you need to do is put your photos into a collection, select them, and they will automatically fill the designated cells in your chosen template. You can then export the layout as a JPEG to bring into Canva. Easy, peasy.

Canva: Canva makes design so simple. And the 2025 year on the wall template makes it ridiculously QUICK.

Two Size Options

This tutorial provides templates for two sizes:

+8.5 x 11 inches: A standard size, perfect for most home printers.

+11 x 17 inches: A larger format for a little more WOW.

Getting Started

Download the Templates: You can access both the Lightroom print module templates and the Canva templates by entering your email below.

Lightroom Classic Prep:

Create a collection of the 12 photos you want to use for your calendar. The order of the photos in the collection will determine their placement in the layout.

Import the downloaded print module templates into Lightroom Classic.

Select either the 8.5 x 11 or the 11 x 17 template.

Select your collection of photos in the filmstrip. They will automatically pop into the cells of the print layout.

If you want to change the photo order, you can drag and drop individual photos within the film strip, then select all of them again.

Export your layout as a JPEG using the Print to File button.

Canva Design:

Open the corresponding Canva template (either 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17).

Drag the exported JPEG from your desktop into the Canva template (frame).

Customize the calendar by changing fonts or adding a quote at the bottom.

Download and Print:

Download your finished calendar design as a PDF Print for the best quality.

If printing at home, choose borderless printing, if your printer offers it, to avoid cutting off any text or design elements. Note that not all printers support borderless printing on 8.5 x 11 paper. If you do not have borderless printing, you might want to skip the quote for that size or adjust the layout.

For the 11x17 size, you may need to send it to a photo lab or your printer of choice unless you have a large format printer.

Key Tips and Considerations

The Lightroom Classic print module uses a "single image contact sheet" layout. This means that the photos are placed in the order they are in the filmstrip.

When importing Lightroom Classic print templates, do not try to open them directly from Finder; use the import function in the Lightroom print module.

Collections in Lightroom allow you to gather photos from different folders in one place.

You can use the "change all" feature in Canva to quickly change the font all at once.

Consider a borderless printing option if you want to include a quote or have elements that go to the edge of the page, especially when printing at the 8.5 x 11 size.
